The setting is superb, a fishing village amidst coconut trees fronting the beach. Like Surin, however, its bay is cursed by a bad undertow.
There are small, low-budget bungalows on the northern end, and one large, modern resort hotel.
The Burmese attacked Phuket in 1785. Captain Francis Light, a British East India Company captain passing by the island, sent word to the local administration that he had observed Burmese forces preparing to attack.
